The Waiting

August 7, 2015

// What will it look like?

What will it be like?

When my world turns out like You planned?

When will I get there?

Feels like I’m nowhere

My dreams are like dust in my hand //

// But I know

This is the waiting

I anxiously wait

As I hold on to love that won’t ever let go

And in these times when my patience is tested

Won’t You remind me that I’m not alone

Here in the waiting //

// All of the questions, secret confessions

Lord You’ll make sense of it all

And I know You’ll show up

So I’m letting go of these thoughts that are taking control //

// This is the waiting

I anxiously wait

As I hold on to love that won’t ever let go

And in these times when my patience is tested

Won’t You remind me that I’m not alone

Here in the waiting //

I was listening to music this morning as I was getting ready for the day and Jamie Grace’s song, The Waiting, started to play.  As I listened, I could not help but smile because I thought back to the first time I heard it – about a year ago.  At that time I felt like I was at my lowest point during my “waiting” period.  I knew that I wanted to change my life, but I wasn’t quite sure how to do it yet.  That year I had traveled to several different cities because my heart felt pulled toward living somewhere new, but nothing seemed to click or feel just right.  I felt stuck, anxious and even depressed.

Jamie’s song became a favorite of mine during this time, because it reminded me that even though I felt lost, that waiting period was helping to prepare me for what was to come.  God had a plan for me even though I couldn’t see it yet.  Now, looking back, I know that this time of patience and discernment allowed me to come to a better understanding of what I wanted and what the next best step truly was.

Have you ever felt stuck or unsure of where life was leading you?  What was a source of encouragement for you during those times?

Life is busy, and it’s hard to view a time of uncertainty as anything other than a nuisance.  The world tells us to keep going no matter what, and that you can’t stop otherwise you might lose out.  But God asks us to stop, pray, reflect and trust that in the quiet He will show us the way.

For any of you out there who are going through your own waiting period, I hope this song offers you comfort and encouragement, as it did for me.

LISTEN HERE.

Cheers,

    It was very inspirational, we are all waiting and struggling with are we where we should be, doing the things we are made to do. It reminds me of a situation where a man of God was not in the right country. He felt he was not but the country was persecuting Christians. He went to a prayer conference and several people came up to him and told him the “you are not in the land of your annointing”. When you seek God in your decisions, he will get you to the land of your annointing. Thank you for reminding me to trust that God will get me there. I am amazed and blessed by this Blog,
